I’ve been working on this project, “The Legacy: Fall of Civilizations,” since High School, 2007. I have worked countless hours--- went many nights without sleeping… writing and proofreading my story over and over. Before my mom died (which was about a year after I started my project) she was wanting to read my story. I was determine to finish it before anyone read it, but I let her read a few lines and paragraphs here and there, and read some to her. I wanted this book to be as good as it could be before anyone set their eyes on my work. I’ve always been like that. Unfortunately she passed a lot sooner than I could’ve guessed and she never had a chance to read my full story which is why I am dedicating this book to her: Betty Lee Waymire. Although I have shared paragraphs and pieces of my story with people close to me, the only people I’ve allowed to read my full story have been professional editors and college English and Literature Professors.
I dream of becoming a successful writer and using the money I make to help people I care about as well as my family get out of the ghetto to better have an opportunity in life. Some have long struggled, and I know that money cannot buy happiness, but if used right it can help people get away from bad places they’re stuck in by circumstance. There are many charities I would like to help out more, some I have worked with personally, but I’m just a single person with big dreams and little money. I want to make writing into a successful career for myself starting with my Legacy book followed by a number of short stories. I just honestly need help getting off the ground. I’ve tried for years to save but I have been unsuccessful meeting this goal by myself which is why I come to you asking for help to make this dream become a reality for me. I know I’m nobody special, just an average person like you, but I believe every person is gifted with something in them they’re meant to pursue in life. For me--- I believe it is writing.
I paid a very talented professional editor to do a light/basic edit on my book a few years back, Mr. John Kudrick. He gave me A LOT of input, constructive criticism, and even compliments--- commenting throughout all my story. He liked that my writing style is unique; he told me never to change that, and told me the areas in my story that I needed to cut out or revamp. After working with him I am certain that he is the right editor for my work, but he is expensive, or more so, my book just has a lot of words… 201,662 to be exact, around 623 pages.

Some quotes from Mr. John Kudrick in regards to my story:
“A very interesting read! You have a great imagination, and you know how to lay a decent foundational plot and then attempt to build plotlines that weave their way toward an ultimate end.”
“I think we could accomplish some great work together on your manuscript. You seem to have created an interesting story that I've enjoyed reading thus far!”
“You have a solid set of core characters and some good secondary and minor characters as well.”
“You have potential as a writer of enjoyable and engaging stories, and I hope you will continue to develop and hone your skills.”
“As I said in my sample edit, an interesting and mysterious prologue.”
“First off, I commend you for having the grit, tenacity, and perseverance to finish your story. That takes a lot of work, and not too many people do it, even a lot of folks who consider themselves writers. As you likely know, writing isn’t quite the glamorous job some people think it is. It can surely be fun, exciting, and invigorating, but it is still hard work. So kudos to you for unleashing the muse in your heart! Now, go the next mile by turning out another draft of your story that is even better than the last. I look forward to seeing your story published someday, and I am honored to have been a part of the process. If you need any further editorial help from me, I’m here. If not, no problem.”
“Thanks again for allowing me to have a small role in your adventure of pursuing publication. I wish you the best with the next draft. Godspeed to you and your story!”
“I really enjoyed your unique narrative voice and writing style, as it’s certainly different than the norm.”
“Very nice! And I think that’s the key: refining your story in way that preserves your unique narrative voice and writing style”
“Interesting idea. Again, I like the uniqueness of the narrator’s voice. It’s quite different than what I usually read, and I think it works for the story you are telling.”
“I have to say that you certainly have a very unique writing voice, which is good. I really like the imagination you have also. I think you have some potential with this tale, and I don’t want you to revise it in a way that cripples your unique voice, so it’s more a matter of smoothing things out here and there. I think the resources I have recommended thus far will likely help.”
“SETTING: Solid enough. You never want to get laborious in setting up the setting for the reader, but you do want to give them enough. I think you do that well enough throughout.”
“Ah, so this narrator clearly has knowledge of other worlds. That is just fine, and no need to explain any of that along the way. It’s nice how you are letting the reader find this out little by little.”
“In addition, the first-person narrator seems to be omniscient, which is also just fine.”
“Again, very good to see things getting worse for the hero.”
“And [the situation] gets even worse, which is even better for the story and the reader!”
“Some good action and twists in this scene!”
“Ah, this sounds good. Hopefully a portent of things to come…”
“This little recap I nice. Not too much, and just a bit tongue in cheek to keep the reader interested.”
“An interesting turn of events.”
“A nice description. Good imagery!”
“Good word choice.”
“Not much to say except that your story is quite fascinating. Aside from the earlier issues I mentioned, I think you’re pretty solid.”
“Again, quite the imagination you have! Very interesting stuff…”
“I really like the vivid world you’ve created. With some refinement of what you have, I think you’ll have quite an engaging story here.”
[For a Substantive edit:] “The turnaround time for the first stage would be around six to eight weeks, and then about four to six weeks for the second stage. The cost for the substantive edit would be $.0275 per word (total, not per stage), so around $4,661.00 total based on your current word count (169,490).”
(Based on the same calculations for my new word count of 201,662(assuming his price hasn’t changed), I can get a full Substantive edit for around $5,545.71 in which I also have help in stock for getting my book published and on shelves!)
---
Much of my book was written, edited and planned out during a darker point in my life. My content was gritty and in some places just crude. Since I’ve grown and progressed spiritually I’ve cleaned up and reworked a lot of my book’s content to better portray a message worth sharing--- I still need to work on a few spots here and there which my editor will help me. The pages of my story continues to reflect that specific point of my life but demonstrates that beauty can rise from ashes- something that I have seen in my own life over time.
There are a number of abstract visions and dreams in my story that end up playing a significant role in the Legacy storyline that more observant readers will catch on to.
Legacy sample:
In his dream there is the shadow of a wolf, it is standing on a tall black mountain with a single patch of green grass at its feet. Didn’t Jahru as well dream of this wolf one may ask? The sky is blue and the marvelous creature is standing there so proud but there is blood on it, blood dripping from its mouth, human blood. Could it have been the blood of my wound, blood represents life, passion could it have been my death?
No wait! There I am, in the clouds and I am holding a tiger. A baby tiger, it must be my son... but my son is dead, how could I be holding my son? Maybe I really am dead, but how could a poison have taken me so easily? And if this is my son why am I holding a tiger!?
Just then the blood from the beautiful creature’s mouth turns black and begins flowing onto the grass and as his eyes turn red, the mountains disappear and he falls. He just falls, falls into a black abyss of nothing. There are humans around him, elves too what can this mean and why has the sky turned black? Blood flows like a stream at its side and he just keeps clawing at it, claws as if he wants to take the blood out of him! The blood is red, no it is black!
What is happening? Everything spins and no structure is sound within the darkness. It is the echo, the sound of fiends piercing at my wall! “Save me,” he screams jerking in an icy cold sweat. Seph’s eyes opens white but he fails to be conscious. Still the poison jerks ravage within his veins and the fiends grow louder within his head!
The wolf is growling at him too, following him with every step. To all surprise he is able to see him, he gets to look into his eyes, but the wolf outlives him as the old man fades away into nothing, granting him all of his power. He doesn't know why the wolf is growling at him. The creature's teeth rip into his hand hard and then into his heart just as his last bit of life is driven out from his flesh.

I found 3 great artists…
but am still waiting for the completion of the pictures.
Since my story is so heavily into fantasy and the unique features of my characters are much so exaggerated in description I decided for my book-art to embrace a manga-style artwork after much consideration of various different styles. The sample pictures I have seen are incredible!
There have been times that I’ve nearly given up on getting my book published, but there’s always a spark in me that says don’t give up. I am not able to do this on my own though; I have really worked my butt of trying to. I’ve worked until my body is sore and my feet have bled trying to earn enough money but life’s expenses always outweigh my goal. I want to reach out to all my friends, family, loved ones, and strangers to help me accomplish this dream once and for all.
Summary
“The Legacy: Fall of Civilizations” takes place in a vast world with fictional creatures and numerous fictional races. Although the home-world of the story, Zen, appears to be a place of great peace, behind closed doors their society is run by a legion of devious elders who cover the people's eyes with a false sense of utopian. The main race of Zen are great creatures part beast, part human. They only know their history according to what the elders of their planet have revealed to them, and humans have long been cast from the Zen homeworld to prevent their species from farther diluting the Zenroe race. The story centers around the life of a child as he uncovers the secrets of his race and the truth of their history as a new mercenary makes his way against the world they call home. The story consists of war and love, but is heavily entwined with messages relevant to our own world and lives. Of course knowing me, my ethics and beliefs are somehow be entwined within my writings in a metaphoric way. Even a fictional war-story consisting of a fictional place and fictional people can imprint a spiritual point or message within it while conveying a completely unique story that is out of this world.
Main Characters:
Oahron – Oahron, a Zenroe, is the main character of the Legacy story, his human name being “Aaron.” He is part beast, part human, traveling the vast world of Zen undergoing extraordinary adventures.
Jahru – Jahru is Oahron’s pretty much good for nothing uncle who got stuck watching his irritating nephew while his brother and brother’s wife undergo a business journey of planetary space travel. Much of the man’s history is shrouded in darkness, concealed by the strong alcoholic beverages he smuggled in from various surrounding planets due to the prohibition on Zen.
Seth – Seth is a human, dark and mysterious. There is little to be said about this man.
Pakki – Pakki is also a Zenroe, one of Oahron’s two best friends. A bit more broad than most Zenroe, Pakki shows himself to be a suitable sidekick during Oahron’s crazy and mischievous adventures.
Shira – A spunky Zenroe, Oahron’s other best friend. Her curious nature at times leads to trouble, but despite her tuff appearance, this girl has an amazing heart.
Kris – Kris is a human. He doesn’t remember much of the circumstances that led him to be tied up in the Zenroe war. He is cocky and prideful but his zeal is what pushes him to keep up with the Zenroe brutes that he is surrounded by. He is determined to prove his place amongst their elite ranks even if it kills him.
Now I get on my knees and humbly ask for financial support for this project. This is my one shot which I have put everything I’ve got into it. I can’t promise that my best is good enough, but I have to try. Will you take a risk/gamble towards me? If I fail I will do my best to somehow pay you off, if I succeed, well, I will assure that you reap many fold from what you’ve sown towards me. Thank you so much.
